Edward Pope McAdams

(16 Sep 1883 - 19 Jul 1950)

Edited the McAdams book for the benefit of his only child, Mary Ellen.

28 Feb 1945. Edward Pope McAdams application to join SAR re his ancestor Samuel McAdams. Also Daniel Comstock, of Rhode Island, who served in Capt Stephen Whipple's Company.

Pope McAdams wrote two letters to John A. Comstock when John was writing the book Comstock Family in America. Most of his information had to do with the descendants of Dorcas Comstock McAdams, his grandmother. In a reply to McAdams, Comstock said "Unfortunately, I will not be able to incorporate much of it in the book as I am compelled to exclude the children of married Comstock girls."
Comstock did admit the material on Dorcas was nearly all new - prior to this letter, I do believe that Comstock realized Ephraim Comstock had been married three times and had one child each by the first two. McAdams could tell him little about the third marriage and those children - Ephraim had left Kentucky.

McAdams wrote on the letterhead of the First National Bank, Louisville, Ky. Pope McAdams, Vice-President and Cashier. The first letter was dated Sep 8, 1945, the second on Nov 17, the same year. The book was published in 1949.
