Kinsport, Tenn. At an impressive ceremony last night Miss Lawson Yates became the bride of Marvin Early Holderness Jr. of New York and St. Louis.
The bride in the daughter of Mrs. Robert Fain Looney of Kingsport and Lawson H. Yates of Nashville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Alex J. Porter of Nashville and the late Mr. Porter and Mrs. John C. Yates of Fulton, KY, and the late Dr. Yates.
Mr. Holderness is the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Marvin Early Holderness of St Louis and the grandson of Mrs. Rober F. Jackson and the late Mr. Jackson of Nashville and the late Dr. & Mrs. Algernon S. Holderness of Fordyce, Ark.
St. Paul's Episcopal church was the scene of the ceremony....

Holderness, 54, Ad Exec Dies
NEW YORK - Marvin Early Holderness Jr., 54, an advertising executive and former Nashville resident, died yesterday in Doctors Hospital here after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be held at 1 am Wednesday at Mr. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville. Services in New York City will be at 11 am tomorrow at Christ Church, Methodist.
Born in St. Louis, Holderness was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Marvin E. Holderness of St. Louis & Nashville and the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert Fenner Jackson of Nasvhille.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University, he was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraterity, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society and Phi Beta Kapp. he was editor of the Vanderbilt Hustler, the student newspaper.
After graduation, he served in the US Army, achieving the rank of lieutenant.
Holderness begain his advertising career in St. Louis in 1949 with Doremus & Co. He was elected vice president in 1955, a member of the board of directors in 1970 and senior vice president in 1972.
