William Comstock

William Removed to Hopewell, VA, and then on to Kentucky. William died in St Martin Parish, LA sometime after 1810.
Daughter Miriam's marriage record is in 1787 in Nelson Co , Kentucky. Daughter Esther's marriage took place in 1790 in what would be Louisiana. Apparently the move to Louisiana was made by 1786 because daughter Esther was baptized in Louisiana that year, likely in anticipation of marriage. Certainly the eldest son Samuel stayed behind in Kentucky. The two daughters who had married in Kentucky likely remained there, too, although I have no further information about either, except that an Enos Harned, likely the man who married daughter Deborah] is in the 1800 Kentucky tax list in Hardin Co KY.
There were many changes in local governing bodies in Louisiana which will have to be considered in researching this family.
Prior to the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, this area was not part of the United States.
From 1805-1807, a territory called Attakapas County
existed in southern Louisiana, created as one of twelve counties by the Orleans Territory.
In 1807, by an act passed by the First Legislature of the Territory of Orleans, the county of Attakapas was changed to St. Martin Parish.
Then in 1811, a lower eastern portion was designated, creating St. Mary Parish.
In 1823 Lafayette Parish was carved out of the western portion, and finally Vermilion Parish was created out of Lafayette's territory
