Samuel Comstock

Samuel was admitted freeman on the 1st Wednesday of May 1758. He bought his farm in Burrillvilee at about age 25.
RI Census of 1774 shows Samuel Comstock, Gloucester, with 1 male above 16, one female younger than 16.
The Census of 1777 of men able to bear arms lists Samuel Comstock of Gloucester, A Friend, exempt.

28 Apr 1787, Samuel Comstock & Lucy his wife of Gloucester RI and Nathan Comstock & Abigail his wife of Wrentham, MA, deeded Joseph Mann land in Smithfield. Burrillville was not set off as a town until 1806.

3 Aug 1796 Samuel Comstock & Lucy his wife of Gloucester, deeded 64 acres in Smithfield to Joseph Mann.

The Samuel Comstock place was said to be about a mile south of the Massachusetts line. The Comstock burying ground was reached by a cart path near the house of Edward Harkins at the head of the Ironstone reservoir. The family belonged to the Uxbridge Society of Friends at Uxbridge, MA, although sons David and Silas were both disowned.
