Pedestrian Accident is Fatal to Osmond Boy
Boyd R. Lainhart, 15-year old son of Mr and Mrs Boyd Lainhart of Osmond was killed instantly Monday, July 28 when he was struck by a car in front of his home about four miles south of Afton.
The Lainhart youth had been on a swimming trip and was just returning to his home when the accident occurred. He had just left a vehicle driven by William Stumpp when he stepped out in the path of an oncoming northbound vehicle driven by Henry R. Smith of San Jose, Calif. The fatality occurred about 6:10 p.m.
County Sheriff Earl Ellsworth and County Coroner A.A. DePauw investigated the accident Tuesday morning. An on the spot investigation was made by Patrolman James Brunton at the scene of the accident assisted by Afton Chief of Police William H. England.
The coroner's investigation declared that the accident was unavoidable and the driver of the vehicle was absolved of any blame in the death.
Funeral services under the direction of Schwab Mortuary and the Osmond Ward Bishopric were held Thursday morning in the Osmond Ward Chapel. Burial was at Afton.
Survivors include his parents, his grandparents, Mr and Mrs A.G. Hunsaker, Afton and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs McKay (Vola) Roberts, 20, Salt Lake City; Vatia Lainhart, 18, Deland Lainhart, 17, Mary Ann Lainhart, 11, Genevieve Lainhart, 10, Sherman Lainhart, 8, dorothy Lainhart, 3, and Laura and Larry Lainhart (twins) 2, all of Osmond.
Young Lainhart was a freshman at Star Valley High School last year.
