Boyd Lainhart, 77, died at his home Wednesday, April 12, 1989 of cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, 1989 in the Osmond Three-Ward LDS building with Bp. Gary Jenkins officiating. Interment was under the direction of Schwab Mortuary in the Afton Cemetery.
Boyd was born June 12, 1911 in Alcorn, Jackson KY to Holland DeLand and Amanda Ellen Harrison Lainhart. He grew up in the mountains of Kentucky where he attended school in a one-room school for eight years. During his teens he worked some in Hamilton, OH. In 1935 he joined the C.C.C.s and came to Wyoming.
He married Audry Hunsaker July 31, 1936 at Paris, ID. They are the parents of 12 children.
Boyd was a tradesman working at various occupations during the years. He hauled milk, sold wood, was a mechanic, drove bus to Idaho Falls, worked at the saw mill for 15 years and retired in 1975, was custodian a the Osmond LDS Ward for many years and at the Veterans building and worked in floor maintenance at Star Valley Hospital.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served as ward usher for many years, as stake usher 11 years, and teacher of the high priest group.
Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the Coast Guard from 1943-1945 at Fort Robinson, NE, Patuxent River, MD and San Juan Puerto Rico.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey, Smoot; daughters and sons Mrs Russ (Vala) Hobbs, Sandy, OR; Vatia Booth, Afton; Allen Deland Lainhart, Mrs LaVell (Mary Ann) Larson, Mrs Robert (Laura) Aullman, all of Thayne; Larry Lainhart, Mrs George (Genevieve) Burdick, Mrs Vance (Amanda Ellen) Welch all of Osmond; Sherman H. Lainhart, Smoot; Mrs Kevin (Dorthy) Manley Encampment WY; his mother, Amanda Ellen Baker of North Vernon IN; 36 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; brother Leonard Murphy of Merritt Island, FL,
Preceded in death by daughter Vada, son Boyd, grandson Isaac, two half sisters and his father.
Funeral services were held Saturday for Boyd Lainhart at the church in Osmond. A large crowd of relatives, friends and immediate family members were in attendance. Boyd had bone cancer and had been in poor health for several months.
