David Adamson

(Bet 1775 and 1782 - Bef 1850)

Provisional son. A David has been claimed to be a son of Simon Adamson, Sr., but there is no proof.

However, I have had autosomal to three members of the Maggio family, apparent desendants of a Karen Adamson, that I also match. They claim their lineage to David and their work seems secure.

"My" David, the son of Jonathan Adamson was likely still in Jefferson Co in 1810 and old enough to be a witness, but an older David would certainly be possible.
18 Jan 1810 Simon Adamson bought 15 acres in Jefferson County, TN “adjoining Simon Adamson”; witnessed by Thomas Adamson and David Adamson. Deed Book J, page 161.
18 Feb 1810 Simon Adamson Junior and David Adamson witnessed a land purchase by Thomas Adamson in Jefferson County, TN “adjoining Simon Adamson, Junior”. Deed Book J, page 183.

There are two David Adamsons in the War of 1812.

Can the following be this David? It certainly is not the David, son of Jonathan, who was my ancestor because he died in Wayne Co IN in 1828.

A descendant of a Jonathan Adamson who is in Arkansas in 1850, claims this David as his father and Simon Sr. as the grandfather.
1820 Census. Monroe, IN
Jonathan Adamson: 1m 16-26. 1f under 10. 1f 10-16.
on the same page (alpha) is:
David Adamson: 4m under 10, 1m 10-16, 1m 16-18, 1m 16-26, 1m 26-45 (b. say 1770-1775). 1f under 10, 1f 26-45.
Abraham Adamson: 3m under 10, 1m 26-45. 1f under 10, 1f 26-45

1830 Census. Mississinaway Twp, Delaware Co, IN
Listed next to each other:
Jesse Adamson, 2m under 5, 1m 20-30, 1m 30-40, 1f under 5, 1f 5-10, 1f 20-30
David Adamson, 2m under 5, 1m 5-10, 1m 30-40 (b. bet 1790-1800); 1f under 5, 1f 5-10, 2f 10-15, 1f 30-40
The census creates an immediate problem - because of the Jesse next to David, both seemingly younger men. Jesse, son of Simon Sr. was a much older man by a generation. It is true that Jesse had a son of the same name - possibly about the age of these two men in Delaware Co in 1830. Perhaps this David is an unidentified son of Jesse, rather than his father Simon Sr. The age seems more likely.

4 Jan 1831 US Land Patent to David Adamson of Delaware Co, IN for 80 acres - the West half of the SouthWest quarter of S22, T24, R8 in Delaware County.

IF David lived until 1840, this seems to be the only possibility - the age doesn't match.
1840 Census. Parke Co, IN
David Adamson, age 50-60 (b. bet 1780-1790), 1 female age 40-50 and 1 female age 80-90
