Death of Mrs. Howe
Rebecca A. Garner was born at Kokomo, Indiana, April 17, 1833, died at Billings, OK, 17 May 1908.
She was married to Ransom B. Howe March 17, 1849, to which union there was born 9 sons and 3 daughters, one son died in infancy. The other children ..all are married; one son, William, together with his friend, was murdered by unknown persons, while in camp on a hunting trip in Arizona in 1900. The other ten children survive here as follows: L. A. Howe of Billings, OK; H. L. Howe of Gage, OK; J. A. Howe of Porum, OK; Mrs. Barbara Marrs, Westphalin, Kansas; Mathias Howe, Spickard; R. F. Howe, Billings, OK; Mrs. Emma M. Padget, Spickard; Simon K. Howe, Miles, Kan.; A. M. Howe, Orlando, OK; and Mrs. Martha A. Wilkerson, Porum, OK - all of whom accompanied the remains to its last resting place at North Evans church except for Mrs. Wilkerson who was herself sick and unable to attend; several sons in law and daughters in law and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren also attended, and many friends of the family attended the funeral, the sermon being preached by Elder J. Padget of the Christian Church of which she had been a member since she was about 16 years of age.
The family formerly lived here, removing to Oklahoma a few years ago. They have many friends who extend sympathy in their affliction.
