A John H. Garner held a land patent next to Vincent Garner in Delaware Co IN. He had taken it out 20 Aug 1838. There aren't many John Garners, but I don't know for sure that this is the same man. It was the SW 1/4 of the SE 1/4, Section 22, Township 21. Delaware Co.

Indiana Marriages on Ancestry: John Garner married Sally Newhouse, 9 May 1838, Delaware Co IN. This would certainly seem to be the John in the census. He married 2nd to Sarah (Arnold) Linsacum, 3 Jan 1854.
