JOHN SEBASTIAN WHITE

(22 Feb 1863 - 9 Mar 1917)

In 1870 Census, John S. was stated to be age 5, born in TX. Father Andrew born in TN; mother Sarah C., born in MO.
Velma [listed as "Velmer"] states her father was born in Texas in the 1920 Census. Audrey ['Audrie"]just said "US". In 1910 John White listed as born in Texas; his parents both born in Tennessee.

J. S. White and Ettie Wishard. Married by R. D. Lee, Minister of the Gospel. License dated 26 Feb, 1887; married on 27th.

1900 Census. John White, with Henretta (sic), and daughters Audrie & Velmer. John born in Texas, father born TN, mother born in MO. Henrietta born in Iowa, father born in IL, mother born in IN (both of which I believe are in error - her father born in IN, mother born in OH)

1910 Census. John and Ettie White with Velma, age 13. "Ettie" born in Ioway. Cottonwood Street. John said to be a Police Officer, a Constable.

Unable to find John's death record in Texas state Dept of Health or Fannin County. Hospitalized in Greenville, so he may have died in Hunt County. (Greenville is Hunt County). [Even after Texas Death Certificates became available online, I was unable to locate a death index listing or certificate for him.] A letter written to his daughter Audrey in New Mexico just a few weeks before his death was from the hospital. He is buried Ladonia City Cemetery, Ladonia, TX next to Etta.
Daughter Audrey listed his death as 17 Mar 1917, in one of her handwritten lists.

I found a letter addressed to Mr. & Mrs. R. C. Haden, Box 702, Phoenix, Ariz, postmarked from Greenville, Texas [Hunt Co], 2 Jan 1917. Witten on the back "last letter from My Father John White".
