Birth date is questionable
There are no exact dates for births, marriages, deaths, for most of this family. Based on the births of the children from about 1735 to 1760 or so - Judith was not born any earlier than about 1712, nor later than about 1720. Otherwise she would have been too young or too old for childbearing - unless some of the dates are in error.


The following tradition is impossible.
"Family tradition says that Judith Lynch came from the Lynch Settlement, which is now Lynch Station, near Lynchburg, VA. , these places being named for her family. Her brother, Capt, Bill Lynch, served in the Revolution. She is said to have been closely related to the Charles Lynch, who originated the famous "Lynch Law" and the Lynch who founded Lynchburg and owned the ferry at that place but the degree of relationship is unknown."
FURTHER NOTE: This is wrong on many levels. The man responsible for the "Lynch Law' was William Lynch who was born in 1742, some 30 years AFTER Judith - the term "Lynch Law" not used until the 1780's - this man did serve in the Rev War. If Judith had a brother in the Rev War, he would have been in his 60's - not many men that old served. Lynchburg is in the center of Virginia in an area not even settled when Judith was born and many, many miles from where the Hardin family was located. There was no "Lynch Settlement" when Judith Lynch was born. Lynchburg was named for a John Lynch - in 1757 - some 35 years AFTER Judith was born. He started a ferry at that location at age 17 - in 1757 - so born about 1740, he could not possibly have been her father.
