Information from a descendant, reveals that Brown Comstock operated a rope walk - the slaves would have been his workers. His older brother Lyndon had also been involved, perhaps as an overseer, in a rope walk business in Lexington.

George Cook Comstock is the only known child of Brown; it appears there may have been a daughter as well. Descendants believe George was the only child - perhaps the young lady is a servant.

A History of Masonry in Madison County, Kentucky 1812-1913, compiled and written by Robert R. Burnam, 1914, p. 56:
BROWN COMSTOCK appears on the records of the Grand Lodge as a representative in that Grand Body from No. 25 with that of John Lawrence. He may have served a half year as Master. Of the bearer of this name I can find no trace except that it appears at a later date on the roll of the Presbyterian Church. Comstock Lawrence.
Brown Comstock was a physician. He went overland to California in a prairie "schooner" during the gold rush, and returned by way of Panama.
Brown Comstock died of cholera. He is buried St. Stephens Episcopal Cemetery, Pittsfield, Pike Co, IL.
