In Hamilton Co, Ohio [Cincinnati is in Hamilton Co] there was the Longview Insane Asylum. It had its own section in the 1880 Census as it took up several pages including all the employees as well as the patients. Must have been quite large. Although the 1880 census asked for the birthplace of each parent, these sections are blank for all patients, listing only their place of birth and that I'm sure was dependent on whatever records had been provided by family members. One of the patients on p.543b was:
Hannah Comstock, white, female, 78 years old, born Ohio; she had been a Housewife
I strongly suspect this is Hannah Cook Comstock. I wonder how she came to be there. Perhaps old-age dementia.

Ohio Death Records: Hannah Comstock, died 29 Jun 1884, at the Longview Asylum, Longview, Hamilton, Ohio. Born about 1802 in Hamilton Co, OH, widowed. Mother's name: Cook.
