Mary Elizabeth Easterling

(1844 - 28 Jan 1923)

This is certainly not a proved relationship, but I suspect it may be correct. Others have not attached Elizabeth to Newt Easterling.

Henry C. Johnson married, according to some databases, Elizabeth Easterling Mims - some say Mary Elizabeth. She had a child Elijah Mims, born prior to the marriage to Johnson. I have been unable to find a marriage between Elizabeth Easterling and a Mims. I have also not found anything to suggest what became of an Elizabeth Easterling after she is noted as being age 6 in the 1850 census. Her mother's census entry is thoroughly messed up in 1860 and any Easterling children not indicated. There is a discrepancy in Elizabeth's age - was she born 1844 as the 1850 and 1870 census suggests, or born 1850 as in the 1880 census when she is with Henry C. Johnson? The marriage record to Henry simply gives her name as Elizabeth Mims and her son Elijah becomes part of the Johnson household.

By 1900, no trace of Henry Johnson, or wife Elizabeth, can be found, nor have I found a cemetery record for them.
