Martha Margaret reared her family of five children alone. She moved to the Posey Mill community after 1880 to join her husband's brothers. Her children related the story of how they thought that their mother never slept. She made a crop each year, working in the fields by day and keeping up with her household duties at night. The children would go to bed hearing her spinning wheel going and would awaken to the same sound in the morning.
Martha Margaret was the daughter of Jesse and Mary Kuglar Morris. Her maternal grandmother, Ann Caren Kuglar, is said to have ridden horseback from GA., likely Henry Co., to Coosa Co., to see her daughter, Mary Morris, when she (Ann Caren) was 90 years old. Ann Caren spoke Dutch and lived to be more than 100 years old.
