Note: This would be the house where I visited Wally & Mimi and was the Paul McKim homeplace before Paul and Ida moved to the farm outside Fayetteville. My favorite thing to do in Ft. Smith was visit Wortz Biscuit Co; Mimi would take us on a tour. The smells were heaven. The cracker oven was in a walkway across a street, and you could walk alongside and watch the crackers baking. At the end of the conveyors, there would always be the broken crackers or cookies that I could sample, often still warm. I've never tasted any better. We never had any kind of cracker in the house except Wortz for years.
Mimi grew African violets on a glassed-in back porch. Shelves and shelves of them - every color imaginable. They also had an old player piano with many rolls of songs. I wonder what happened to it.
