Libby McBee

( - )

Libby Waters is named as a widow in her father's Will, 1822, with children William, John, Gainum, Samuel & Sarah Ann. She was the oldest daughter. She was given 130 acres of land in Knox Co.
I have never been able to find her - perhaps she remarried.

I did find in 1850 - in Marshall Co, AL
Gannum Waters, age 42 [born 1808 which would be about the approximate age of Libby's son], b. Tennessee
Lettice, age 38, b. AL
Julia Brunston, age 11, b. AL
Jacob Foster, age 40, laborer, b. TN

I looked back at 1840 and "Gainer Waters" was in Marshall, AL and had one male under 5, one male 5-10, himself age 30-40, 2 females 30-40 and 1 female 40-50. He may have had sisters or sisters-in-law living in his household

There was also in Marshall Co in 1850 but not there in 1840
William C. Waters, age 49 [b. 1801] in TN
Rachel, age 35, b. TN
children all born in Alabama: Clabourn 16, Leta E 12, Mary J 9, Sarah Ann 7, John Samuel 4, and Letta age 2

In 1840 there was a William Waters in Baldwin Co AL with this household
1m under 5 [Clabourn], 1m 20-30 [brother or brother-in-law?], 1m 30-40 [William]
1f under 5 [Leta], 1f 15-20 [Rachel]
A William Watters in Perry Co AL and one in Talledega Co AL don't have a matching family - and both were slave owners which the William Waters in Baldwin was not.
