Logan Co Guardian Records:
Joseph Offutt was guardian of Otha, L. and Wm J. Haden. The date of the first settlement is noted as 19 Mar 1868 - each received almost $10,700.00. There is a note that Jos. Offutt was dead, the estate settled in Simpson Circuit Court. Joseph was Elizabeth's brother married to Thomas Hayden/Haydon's sister.

Athough the spelling is confused - and Samuel H. Haden of my husband's family was also a resident of Simpson Co, I believe the following refer to Otho or his brothers, based on names of neighbors and associates. These are listed as recorded so dates are not consecutive.

p.10/p.134 2 Dec 1871 W. M. Creekmur [Creekmore] & wife, S. A. to M. M. Dawson. $6764.76, being $45 per acre; 150 acres, 2 roods on Tarapin Creek being same on which said Creekmur now lives. Beg. Milliken. $6000 of which $2000 yet owingand same secured by mortgage on tract of land belonging to grantee lying near the Springfield Rd & $3000 yet due & owing David Childress. 180 acres and 10 poles. Begin at stake in center of Franklin & Russellville Rd which stand S 16 ¾ W 22 links from a stone, corner to A. J. Jones; adj John Morgan, E. Swearingen, S.Hayden, L. Hayden, W. Evans, and W. Page.
[I suspect the "S." Hayden is an error - the "L" surely for Lafayette]

Offutt dec’d to Otho Haydon $10562.05 with interest from 10 Mar 1868 to this date being $989.11, the purchase money of 311 A, 3 roods & 9 poles sold 10 Mar 1868 publicly to the highest bidder, ½ of said land brought $31.75 per acre and the other ½ brought $36 per acre bought by Haydon as thehighest bidder. 2 lots of ground, both lots lying in Simpson Co now but formerly in Logan Co and being part of the Joseph Offutt farm lying near Middleton; adj Alex B.
