John O. Ashley married Sarah J. Givens, 6 Feb 1873, Putnam Co, IN. They were married by John S. Jennings, JP. Sarah may have been a widow since the Social Security record of son Emmett H. It is likely that the James M. Ashley of the Civil War was John O.'s son - listed as James K. in 1850, James R. in 1860. James had enlisted at Somerset KY and was examined by a doctor in Pulaski Co when he was furloughed after being paroled.
