Inv of bonds due estate of Armstead Watlington, Jr. decd on Augustus Gwyn, David Walker, Allen Scott, Ruben Harris, John Swift, et al. By E. Watlington adm.
Since the young Armistead was in the 1850 census, I very much suspect the original read "Armstead Watlington, Sr"

Caswell Co NC Estate Files, FamilySearch.org
Armistead Watlington, 1840, 37 pages. Contains no will. There are documents dated as late as 1871 regarding the daughter Nancy who was apparently mentally handicapped. Perhaps there was a will which prescribed care for her - certainly she received a portion of the estate. Apparently Mary had pre-deceased her husband.
13 Oct 1840 - Statement of bonds due the estate. Signed by E. Watlington, Exctr. Presented in January Court 1841.
Thomas Graves sued for payment of a note signed by Dennis Wilson, E. M. Jones and Armistead Watlington in the amount of $225 on 3 July 1839.
January Term, 1855. Report from Emanuel & James Watlington, Executors of amounts received from sale and disbursements.
19 Sep 1862. Report of sale of property of Armsted Watlington sold by A. D. Hubbard
To E. M. Powell, girl Lavinia, $1080
To C. G. Holland, girl Matilda $1307
To George Martin, girl Harriet, $801
To E. M. Powel, boy Simion, $1351
To William Shelton, boy Dick $732
Their sister Nancy apparently required care:
Accounting by Emanuel & James Watlington and headed as Nancy Watlington, 1855, but the expenses itemized begin with 1852 and continue to 1871 - see report below in 1871.
James Watlington was paid for keeping Nancy 1862, 1863, 1865 & 1866. Signed in Aug 1866.
8 Dec 1864. Received of Emanuel Watlington $300 being payment for board & clothing for his sister Nancy & girl for 1863 - signed Armsted (X) Watlington. James J. B. Watlington. The mention of "a girl" makes me wonder if they also maintained a slave for her care in the early years.
The estate received $25 from Emanuel Watlington, part of a bond dated 14 Aug 1863. Signed 18 Nov 1866, by James J. B. Watlington - note on the back states was this was apart from the contract due by James Watlington for Nancy Watlington's board.
Receipt dated Feb 16 1866 from James Watlington for $51 in part for board of sister Nancy for 1665. Signed James J. B. Watlington, for Armsted Watlington
23 Jan 1867. Receipt of James Watlington for $60 for care of his sister Nancy in 1866. Signed James J. B. Watlington.
Receipt signed by Thomas Watlington, 1868, that he has been paid just over $27 for boarding and clothing for Nancy Watlington.
Another signed for $20 by Thomas 17 Nov 1869, for expenses for Nancy in 1867 & 1868.
One signed by Thomas for Nancy for $100 for 1867 in full.
8 Mar 1871 - report filed for expenses of Nancy paid to Thomas Watlington.
Sworn on the 8th, 1871 is a statement by Emanuel Watlington:
"In the matter of Nancy Watlington a Lunatic. E. Watlington maketh oath that as co-Executor of Armstead Watlington his father he had in his possession & loaned out in 1855, $33 & took the Bond as agent for his Sister. (it being an amount due Nancy Watlington his Sister from the Estate of his father) that he received the money back in 1862 in now Confederate Currency & that the money became a loss by the result of the lat War except that portion he used as confederate money for her benefit."
