The guardianship of the Children of Francis Watlington, dec'd and his widow Rebecca, began as early as 1774 - the book I had did not go back prior to that, but all children were minors; Nancey, Armistead, Edward and Frances (female). There were several records of these children in the Will Book records from the early 1770's well into the mid 1780's. The guardianships continued on for the other children, but the last record of Nancy in the guardianships was 1781 - I would assume she was the oldest child and upon a division of slaves among the heirs in 1781, would make me believe that Nancy must have reached the age of 18 or close to that. (maybe 16), but no further record of her in the guardianship. Before 1780, Rebecca Watlington was guardian. After 1780 Rebecca and her new husband Benjamin Shelton were guardians.
