Armistead Watlington

By 1767, Armistead is shown as a Justice of Halifax Co and a member of the King's council at Williamsburg.

He is said to have served as a Colonel in the Revolution - his sons John and Paul also served. They were involved in the battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina. Armistead apparently resigned before the war's end due to health reasons.

In 1782, Armistead was head of household in Halifax Co VA with 6 whites and 25 slaves.
In 1783, he had 1 male over 21, 10 slaves over 16, 9 slaves under 16, 4 horses, 37 head of cattle
