Inventory of the property and estate of Emanuel Watlington. 378 acres of land. Money on hand, $224.10. Certificate of deposit for $1620, bonds, household goods & tools, etc. Taken by John H. Watlington and Elizabeth G. Shelton, 20 Jun 1882. Sworn in court 8 Jul 1882.

17 Nov 1891. Petition for division of land filed by John H. Watlington, Anna Bell Shelton, Martha Brackin Shelton, Mary Bell Shelton - minors by their general guardian, W. S. Shelton. They were tenants in common of the tract of land Emanuel Watlington owned at the time of his death, lying on Moon's Creek and adjoining lands of Thomas Watlington, Rice Gwyn, James Shelton, John Flintoff and other, 365 acres which does not include the house and lot and garden where Emanuel Watlington lived and which belongs to petitioners, Anna Belle Shelton, Martha Brackin Shelton, and Mary Bettie Shelton in fee simple. They are minors under 21 and W. G. Shelton is duly qualified as their guardian. Request for commissioners to divide the land - one-half to be allotted to John H. Watlington, for the term of his own life, provided he dies without children.
20 Nov 1891 - Commissioners met and divided the land as ordered, according to the Will of Emanuel Watlington. John H. Watlington, Lot 1, 194 acres, for his lifetime, but to descend to the Shelton girls if he dies without heirs. Lot 2, 194 acres, to the Sheltons which is more valuable. They are to pay to John $250. Bedford J. Page, G. G. Dailey, W. C. Turner.
