Paul married Jane P. Blackwell, 12 Feb 1838, Caswell Co NC. She is shown as the daughter of Garland Blackwell and Mary Scott.

Another Internet source shows the marriage as 1828, but I believe 1838 to be correct, given ages of their children in the following censuses:

Petition from the heirs of Paul Watlington by John B. Watlington, Fannie P. Watlington, Thomas Dailey & wife Amanda B. Dailey, Ansel White & wife Sarah J. White, W. W. Siddle & wife Laura A. Siddle, Robt, Gwyn, and Mamie Gwyn & R. C. Gwyn, minor children of Mary E. Gwyn, dec'd. Notes that Paul died sometime in the year 1882, leaving the listed heirs. Mary E. Gwyn had died in 1883 leaving her two children as her heirs at law. Each child to have 1/6 share accounting for certain advancements mentioned in the will of Paul Watlington. Robert Gwyn being entitled to a life interest in the share of Mary E. Gwyn with the remainder to the minors Mamie & Robert C. Gwyn. The lands include the homestead adjoining lands of the late John Blackwell, Geo. Dailey & others containing 265 acres, a half interest in a 12 acre tract adjoining the homestead, the life interest of the widow Elizabeth Jones in a tract of 30 acres which adjoins Geo. Dailey & others, a tract of 45 acres adjoining lands of John B. Watlington, John Siddle Sr. The lands had been sold but the heirs requested an equitable division by the court. Documents include the courts decision which included the payment to Robert Gwyn for his life estate.
