John Peevyhouse

(13 Oct 1747 - 1 Mar 1806)

John was born Johannes Biebighausen, son of George Johannes Biebighausen and Anna Margaretha Henzeiker. The name became "Americanized" through phonetic spelling.

Notes are from WorldConnect File, "Tommy Corder's GEDCOM" which states the following.
The family arrived from Rotterdam on the ship Two Brothers, 13 Oct 1747 and were settled in the Bedminster Township, Bucks County, PA by 1764.
John took the oath of allegiance in Bucks Co, PA, 1 Oct 1776. John was among a long list of deserters of the First Pennsylvania Battalion commanded by Lt. Col. Turbett Francis - they had deserted from Ft. Loudon on 25 Aug 1764. On 9 May 1776, he is listed on a muster roll quartered at Ft. Island, PA Rifle Regt, Col. Samuel Niles commanding, as John Bevehouse. He was on the payroll in Aug of 1776 and listed as "Sick", in September. John served two months in the Pennsylvania Militia, 8th Co, 5th Battalion, 1782, from Northampton County which was formed out of Bucks. [Pennsylvania Archives]

John Pevehouse received land grants from North Carolina, in Tennessee:
17 Nov 1790 - 100 acres on waters of the Watauga River. This tract was sold in 1795.
John Pevehouse was ordered by the Washington Co TN court to serve on the road crew near Doe Creek, Nov 1788 and was a tax roll of Carter Co, TN in 1798.

Children are said listed in his will [presumably in Wayne Co, KY].
