There is a Rachel Ratcliff buried in Russiaville Cemetery in Howard County, Indiana. The gravestone reads "7 d of 8th month 1851 in 84th year". Thus, she was born about 1767. She was likely Rachel Cashatt, the widow of Edom Ratcliff Sr. Her sons, Edom and Jacob, were both living in Howard County at the time of her death.
The Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, Vol. 5. Newberry Monthly Meeting. Lists the Death of Rachel Ratcliff as the 7th of the 8th month, 1850.
Rachel is believed to be the daughter of John & Margaret Cashatt. She was not mentioned specifically in her father's will, but there were several known children that must have been included as "all my children". Four of the Cashatt siblings married into the Ratcliff family.
John signed his will 17 Nov 1810. He was then living in Chatham Co NC. He left to his beloved wife Margaret, the land where the were living for her widowhood and at her decease to be sold and equally divided among all his children. She is to have the stock, furniture, etc. All my estate, real & personal, to be sold after the decease of Margaret and the money equally divided among all my children. To daughter Margaret, the horse she claims, two head of cattle, two beds & furniture. To daughter Dorkes, one colt which she now claims, two head of cattle, one bed & furniture.
