Westmoreland Co VA Orders 1721-1724
F. Edward Wright 2007

27 Feb 1722/3 Sheriff to summon Wm Chandler & Deliverance, executrix of John Veal, dec'd to answer petition of Jacob Vandiver & Susanna his wife, one of the orphant of sd Veal at next court.

29 Aug 1728 Judgment granted Jacob Vandiver & Susanna his wife, one of the daughters of John Veale dec'd agst William Chandler & Deliverance his wife, extrx of the LW&T of Veal for 400# tobacco being a proportionable part of the estate left by the said Veal to his daughter Dorothy who departed this life in her infancy for which part Jacob had petitioned and it is ordered Chandler to pay the same.
John Veal did not name any daughter other than Susan in his Will; however, there is the statment "unto all my well beloved children each 2000#'s of tobacco" If Susanna's share of Dorothy's 2000#'s was 400#'s, then there were four other heirs, siblings of Dorothy - she had three known brothers, John, Morris & Bond. Could the missing heir be Sarah Veal, wife of Thomas Poindexter????

Found in St Mary's, MD were accounts for Jacob Vandever, Administrator Susanna Green, wife of Nicholas Green. 22 Nov 1736
Distribution to accountants [1/3]. Residue to orphans: John Vandever, William Vandever, Elisabeth Vandever, Ann Vandever.
Vandever's inventory, dated 21 Feb 1734/5 was signed by next of kin Eleanor Asten and Dorothy Veale.
Veale researchers have placed Susanna elsewhere but she was the "Susan" named in Eleanor's brother John's will of 1718. There is a lawsuit in Westmoreland Co, 1723, against Deliverance [widow of John Veale] and her new husband William Chandler, stating "Jacob Vandiver & Susanna his wife, one of the orphans of sd John Veal"... She had apparently remarried to Nicholas Green after the death of Vandiver.
