Westmoreland Co VA Orders 1721-1724
F. Edward Wright 2007
p.24 25 Oct 1721 The Sheriff summon Deliverance Veale to the next court and produce the will of Joseph Taylor said to be ___ custody or show cause for not producing same.

p.31 28 Feb 1721/2 Deliverance Veale produced will of Joseph Taylor
[On this same day, Sarah Crawford Poindexter Brechin presented the Will of James Brechin. Undoubtedly the families were acquainted.]

A Later deed, 1736, states that Joseph Taylor's will was dated 16 Oct 1721 - and said to have 2/3 of a tract to Deliverance Taylor. Deliverance was Deliverance VEALE at this time. Is the date a probate date and not the date the will was written - or did the court in 1736, err in stating her name. Deliverance could not have been Taylor's widow in 1721, leaving the likelihood she was a daughter. The will has been lost but an inventory is recorded in Westmoreland Co in 1721 for Joseph Taylor.

p.39 3 Mar 1721/2
Suit agst Deliverance Veale, extrx of Joseph Taylor
At least 15 suits for debts agst Sarah Brechin as Extx of James Brechin Clk. Dec'd.

[Note in that both the suits above, Sarah Brechin was also involved in suits on the same day - she was Thomas Poindexter's mother. James Brechin as Court Clerk appeared almost everywhere that a member of the Veale family was present. Obviously the two families were acquainted. There would not seem to be any doubt that Sarah Veale, Thomas's wife belongs in this family somewhere.]

By July of 1722, Deliverance was married to William Chandler.

Note: John Veal did not name any daughter other than Susan in his Will; however, there is the statment "unto all my well beloved children each 2000#'s of tobacco" If Susanna's share of Dorothy's 2000#'s was 400#'s, then there were four other heirs, siblings of Dorothy - she had three known brothers, John, Morris & Bond. Could the missing heir be Sarah Veal, wife of Thomas Poindexter????

On 7 Dec. 1736 A deed from Susannah Appleyard to Henry Lee stated it was 63 3/4 acres within 200 acres sold by William Chandler and wife Deliverance on 26 Aug. 1723 to Henry Lee, which said Deliverance hath since intermarried Owen Brinnon. The tract was formerly sold by Richard Wright and wife Ann to Nicholas Spencer, Esqr., who by his will dated 25 Apr. 1688 gave it to his son Nicholas Spencer who died without heirs so it descended to John Spencer his heir at law, who
sold it to Joseph Taylor, Planter and who by his will dated 16 Oct. 1721 gave one third to the said Susannah Appleyard and on privso that her father and mother did not take it away til she was age 16, and the other 2/3 to Deliverance Taylor and now the wife of Owen Brinnon. Note: There is an inventory for Joseph Taylor in 1721 in Westmoreland County, but the will was not listed. Note that these are transcribed "deed and will" books done in 1801, the originals not surviving. Note also that in 1721 she should have been called Deliverance Veale (or Chandler), not Taylor.
