She might possibly be the granddaughter mentioned in the will of Samuel HANCOCK, probated on 1 Sep 1760 in Chesterfield County. That Martha Waddell was apparently the daughter of HANCOCK's daughter, Frances OSBORNE.
Will dated 1 Sept. 1760, recorded 6 Feb. 1761.

It is my opinion that the whole basis for choosing Osborne as her surname is from the above record in Chesterfield County. The only Waddill known to have lived in Chesterfield was the family of William & Sarah Waddill [3rd Generation] and their son Noel apparently died sometime between 1763 and 1773. He has been linked to the Noel in Pittsylvania Co, but I think it likely he is not. That makes it very unlikely Martha is connected to that above family of Samuel Hancock, or that her surname was Osborne.
