Joseph was not named in the will of his father George in 1770. Martha's father was Joseph Bradley, and Joseph witnessed deeds in Virginia along with George Jr. & Isaac, 1747. He would have to be at least 14, or born before 1733 to witness and could have been several years older as Martha Mabry relinquished dower in a 1727 deed.

There was a marriage bond issued, Pittsylvania Co VA, 27 Jan 1776 for Mary A. Mabry to marry Richard P. Murrell. Her tombstone in the Murrell Cemetery, Sullivan Co TN says:
"Mary A. Murell, Daughter of Joseph Mabry, born 1753, Died Apr 6, 1848.
