Joseph and Alice were 1st cousins. They had eight children. Joseph served in the Confederacy: Muster roll for Co. B, 28th TN Infantry for Jan & Feb of 1863 shows that J. C. Pippin enlisted 23 Dec 1862 at Murfreesboro, TN for 3 years. The Muster roll for Co K, 28th Consolidated TN Infantry for Mar & Apr of 1863 also shows Joseph present for duty.

One of the sons of Kid Pippin & Alice Mae was A. [Alfred] Carrol Pippin, born Sep of 1865 and died 15 Sep 1926, Jackson Co, at age 59, of a gastric ulcer. He also had asthma. He was listed as married and a farmer. His Death Certificate was #22584.
Carroll's wife was Dorcas "Darkus" Mathis. Carroll & Dorcas had a son named Campbell Farlin Pippin, born 6 Jun 1891 and died 2 Nov 1949 of cerebral hemorrhage. "Farley" was buried in the Family Cemetery, Putnam Co.

Another son was Boliver Pippin, born about 1870 and died 12 Mar 1936 at age 60 in Putnam County. He was married at the time of his death from heart disease. The informant was Charlie Pippin.
