Individual Details

Amos Carroll Pippin

(1832 - 1901)

Amos moved his family to Texas just prior to the 1860 Census where he was found in Upshur Co. They moved to Arkansas about 1862.

Amos served as a private in the 34th Ark [Brooks's] Infantry Regt, Confederate. He enlisted 15 Jul 1862 and was detailed as a carpenter 30 Apr 1863. He was last paid 3 Jun 1863. On 20 Apr 1864, he enlisted in Co I, 4th Ark Infantry Regt, Union.

Lydia died before 8 Jun 1865 when Amos married Charlotte Renfroe Hughes. Charlotte sumitted application for widow's pension 6 Jul 1888 based on Amos' service in the Union Army. It was approved and pension granted. She stated twice that Amos died 22 Nov 1879, but another document showed 22 Nov, 1888, obviously an error since he wasn't in the 1880 census with Charlotte.
