Individual Details

Hannah COOK

(1785 - Abt 1845)

Kentucky Marriages:
Hannah Cook, married Thomas Craddock, 21 May 1808, Warren Co KY

My abstracted deeds go to 1817 and the only Craddock mentioned is Robert who had a 1000 acres Military survey on the Gasper River. This does place his family near the Cooks.

John Cook and Margaret Caldwell's daughter, Hanna, m Elmore Craddock
21 May 1808 Warren Co KY. they migrated on to MO before her death. He died
in CA, probably in the gold rush, as date of death is given as 22 Feb 1869
Yuba Co CA. Oddly they have a child with the middle name of Cox, which makes
me really wonder about this line, though they are not mine.

I have found in a message board post - the name as Thomas Elmore Craddock, b. 1781 in Virginia. Said to be a nephew of the above Robert Craddock. Thomas was in Ohio Co KY in 1810, but moved to Madison Co, MO about 1816.

I find that Robert Craddock had also lived in Mercer Co KY in 1794, when the Cooks were there. He received his Rev War pension in Warren Co, having served as a Lieutenant in the 4th Regt of the Virginia Line. He bought up military land in Kentucky on speculation, but still owned several tracts when he wrote his will in 1837 [Warren Co WB D - pp.106-113]. He emancipated his slaves and provided for education for the poor of Warren Co. in that will. His home plantation, Hermitage, was 1400 acres near Bowling Green.
