Mary married Gabriel Turner, son of Smith Turner and Nancy Ragsdale, on 7 November 1847 in Boone County, Missouri. "Boone County, Missouri Marriages 1820-1848; as Contained in the Original Marriage Books A and B, page 345 .
In 1850, when her husband is in California, Mary is living back in Simpson County, Kentucky, with her father, Samuel H. Haden, and step mother, Frances Haden. She has no children at this time, which coincides with her eldest being born in 1856, as stated in her husband's will.
In 1860 Mary Turner is listed in Gabriel Turner household "U. S. Census, Boone Co, Missouri, Columbia Twp, page 840B, dwelling 1472 family 1424.
Mary was widowed in October 1864 when her husband, Gabriel, died in Mexico, Audrain County, Missouri, when during the Civil War occupation of Union Forces, he died as it was characterized locally, as he was shot in cold blood for no reason. Mary Haden witnessed the probate of the estate of Gabriel Turner on 25 November 1864 at Boone County, Missouri. "Mrs. E. E. Evans and Mrs. J. Frank Thompson compiler, Wills and Administration of Boone County 1821-1870 (Columbia, Missouri: privately printed, 1933), page 86. Gabriel Turner # 2043. Gabriel's heirs, all of Boone County, Missouri, were :
