David Johnson married Lucy Ellis of Henrico Co on 13 Apr 1762 in Goochland. Their children were Sarah b. 1763, Ann b. 1764, William b. 1767, Susannah b. 1769, James b. 1772, Lucy b. 1774, David b. 1777, and Betty Ware Johnson.

David was administrator of his brother Isham's estate, but died himself before 16 Dec 1799 when the court ordered an appraisal of his estate. William Johnson, probably his son, was appointed administrator.

25 Nov 1801, Goochland Co. William Johnson, as admr of David Johnson dec'd and sd William, David, James, Lucy, Suckey, and Betsy Johnson, all distributees of the estate of David Johnson, dec'd were summoned to appear in court as heirs of Isham Johnson to answer a complaint against them by their uncle Benjamin Johnson.

In 1802 a suit was filed in Chancery by David Johnson's heirs. David's 131 acres on the Geneto was sold by Daniel Guerrant, Daniel Johnson & Joseph Watkins. Goochland DB 18, p.16-18
