Mary said to be the daughter of John Rose of Wicomico Parish, Northumberland Co VA. His wife was Mary Blackery [likely a widow when he married her]. John Rose named a daughter Mary Stamps in his Will.

Joseph Davis, wife's grandson, sheep. Daughters Mary Stamps and Elizabeth Dodson all the rest of my estate to be equally divided. To loving wife Mary Rose use of estate during her life or widowhood.

The Hull papers thought Mary's name to be Mary Roe and traced her lineage to an Edward Roe [later William Lipscomb Stamps of Caswell Co NC would name a son Edward Roe - but that may have been based on these papers, not on any actual data.]

I believe it's most likely she was Mary Rose and not Roe, particularly because of the close association of the Stamps and Dodsons families. Mary's sister Elizabeth married Thomas Dodson.
