Joseph was received at the Lost Creek Monthly Meeting on certificate with his father in 1795. 31 Jan 1807 he was disowned for "marrying contrary to the discipline and attending musters". He served in the War of 1812 in Capt. Joseph Calloway's East TN Voluntary Company and was awarded two land warrants for his service.

JOSEPH ADAMSON son of Jesse T. and Mary
[Wells] Adamson. He and some of his siblings moved to Lost Creek MM in 1797.
Joseph was disowned for marrying out of unity on Jan. 31, 1807. This first
marriage was to a daughter of CHARLES BLAKELY but her first name is unknown. On
Oct. 3, 1815 he married as a second wife his cousin ALICE ADAMSON daughter of
Thomas "Byrd" and Rachel [Williams] Adamson. Thomas was another son of Simon
Adamson Sr. REBECCA ADAMSON said in Internet files to be a daughter of Simon Sr.
born Guilford County, NC about 1780, married Lost Creek MM, Jefferson County, TN
1792 (12 years old WOW!) JACOB BEALS/BALES son of Thomas (born Nottingham,
Chester County, PA )and Sarah [Antrim or Ancram] Bales. See above- This is much
more likely to be REBECCA [LEAKY] ADAMSON.

The will of Charles Blackley, Knox Co TN, names his wife Margaret, and he gave his land to son Joseph after Margaret's death - 146 acres. Others that received a bequest of $1 were son James, son Alexander, daughter Sarah Williams, son Jess, daughter Agnes Dodd, daughter Mary Routh, daughter Martha Patton, son-in-law Joseph Adamson, son Charles and son John. Dated 17 Jul 1816. Submitted for probate at the October Court, Knox Co.

Note: a database online says the first wife was Anna Blackley and that she died in 1815 at or near the birth of their sixth child. Joseph married Alice or Alsey, daughter of Thomas & Rachel on 3 Oct 1815 and they are said to have had 9 more children. They lived in DeKalb Co TN 1840 & 1850. Alsey is said to have died after 1850 and before 1854 when Joseph Married Lakey Deen, 6 Jul 1854. Joseph left a will probated in 1856, presumably in DeKalb Co.

No daughter Mary has been identified for Jesse Adamson - however there was a Mary Adamson who married Levi Stites, 9 May 1822, Wilson Co TN where Joseph's brothers William & Elijah had marriages. Perhaps she died young, leaving the Joseph, age 16, living with Joseph Adamson in 1850.

Some of the digital images online at DeKalb Co suggest there were a number of bonds to Wm D. Adamson who appears to have been either the Executor or Administrator of Joseph Adamson, dec'd - they are dated 1859-1861, and seem to be in response to the distribution of the widow of Joseph Adamson, named as "Leaky Adamson, now Johnson". If she had remarried, any life estate would be distributed among the children. I did find another marriage for Joseph Adamson to Lakey Dun, on 6 July 1854, DeKalb Co. Apparently this was a third wife.

The bonds included some hints to the children or grandchildren of Joseph, I suspect there are other documents. 22 Nov 1859, Bethel "Adimson" made bond to W. D. Adimson for his interest in the dower of Leaky Ademson now Leaky Johnson former widow of Joseph Adimson of DeKalb Co. On the saide day, William B. Adimson made bond for his interest in the estate of Joseph Adimson Decest both real & personal and P. L. Adimson made oath. Also on that day, John & Anna Vandergriff made bond for their interest in the dower of Leaky Adimson, and proven by the oath of Presley L. Adimson. On the 21st of February, 1860, Elijah D. Adimson expressed his interest in the dower of Leaky Adimson to Elijah J. D. Adimson. Thomas Adamson made bond to Wm. D. Adamson for a part of the Dower tract in Civil Dist No 3, and John Vandergiff made oath for him, 12 Dec 1861. Also on that date Margarett Bennett (or Barrett/Barnett) to Wm D. Adamson for her part in the tract in DeKalb Co, Dist No. 3 and John Verdergriff also provided certification for her.
