Langley lived in Wayne Co IN as early as June of 1823. In the 1830's they purchased several tracts of land in Madison Co IN. The book "History of Delaware Co IN" states that Jonathn Langley, his father, was one of the first settlers buying land on 11 Apr 1836. In 1850 they were in Honey Creek Twp, Clinton Co IN. The Adamson families seemed also to have lived in Wayne Co, then Delaware, and Howard Counties. Both families intermarried with Garners and Crousores.

1836, August 29: In the book " History Of Delaware County, Indiana", records show that John bought land on August 29, 1836 in Township 21, Range 9, section 30.

1840 Census, John Langley was in Delaware Co IN, p.310. He was age 20-30, with a female aged 15-20.

1850 Census: Honey Crk Township, Clinton Co IN. John Langled age 30, b. OH. Ruth 32, born OH. Curtis age 10, Jackson 7, Martin 4, and MIles 2.

1860 Census. Taylor Township, Howard Co IN. John Langley age 43, born Ohio. Ruth age 28. Curtis 19. Eliza 19 [wife of Curtis]. Andrew 17; Martin 15, Miles 12; Waitsel 9; Ann 6, and Hannah age 3.

1870 Census. Still in Taylor Twp. John Langley, age 52. Ruth 47. U. S. age 22 [Miles was age 22 - don't know why his initials were "U.S."], Rebecca 16, Hannah 13, M. E. age 10 [female - Mary]

1880 Census. Taylor Twp. Miles C. Langler age 32. Ruth, mother, age 57. Mary E. [Daughter- obviously daughter of Ruth] age 19. Virgil R. age 4.

Buried Albright Cemetery. John C. Langley, died Jan 29, 1873 - aged 56y 3m 8d. Calculated birth is 21 Aug 1816. Tombstone with Ruth inscribed as follows: "Dearest parents, you have left us Here your loss we deeply feel, But 'tis God who has bereft us" FindAGrave #45462239
