According to MEN WHOM I REMEMER, LOGAN COUNTY, KY, by George D. Blakey, Oliver Caldwell had come from Ireland about the middle 1700's and settled in Greenbrier Co VA; he joined the westward migration, first to Tennessee, then Hardin Co Co and about 1795 arriving in Logan Co KY, settling in the area that became Butler county. He had sons George, Andrew, David and Daniel. Andrew & David operated a tanyard in Russellville, extending into the manufacture of saddles and harnesses.
On a post on the Caldwell Forum on GenForum is a description of a family Bible belonging to Oliver's son Andrew. It states that Oliver first married a cousin, Ann Caldwell, and had two sons, Josph & John. He married a much younger Isabella Cook and had George W., David, Andrew, Daniel Cook, and Nancy who died as a child. This post states that Oliver died in TN and Isabella continued on to Kentucky with her children.
