Nathaniel married Martha Carr on 9 Nov 1837 in Palmyra. She was born 16 Jul 1817 in Palmyra; died 27 Jun 1890 in Shiawassee Co MI. Nathaniel & Martha adopted and raised his nephew Edgar Nathaniel, son of Emory Durfee and Martha's sister Eliza Jane (Carr) Durfee. Eliza Jane was killed in a carriage accident 4 Jul 1844. Martha, Eliza Jane, and Cordelia who married Emory after the death of Eliza, were the daughters of David Carr, born 2 Jul 1793, in New Jersey, died Jul 1860, and Rebecca Evans born 12 Feb 1794 in Pennsylvania, died 6 Sep 1867. David & Rebecca Carr died at the home of Nathaniel & Martha in Michigan where they had come to live in their later years.
