Allen Durfee

Allen married Sarah Thayer 26 Jan 1825 in Palmyra. She was born 27 Dec 1802 and died 4 Jan 1862 in Livonia, Wayne Co MI. The family lived first near Waterford, Oakland Co MI circa 1825; four years later they move to Livonia.
Allen apparently kept a diary in which he recorded numerous entries of a genealogical nature concerning the Durfee family on 20 Nov 1875. These entries were copied by Nettie L. Dibble, a Notary Public, and deposited in the Plymouth Historical Museum. In 1932, the diary was in the possession of Miss. Lina Durfee of Plymouth, Wayne County, Michigan.

"Mr. and Mrs. Allen Durfee left on the 6:25 train last eveing for Plymouth, Mich., to attend the funeral of Mr. Durfee, "Uncle Allen Durfee" a pioneer of Wayne Co, Mich. Mr. Durfee was born March 4, 1802, in Palmyra, Wayne County, NY."
