William & Mary lived in Augusta Co for several years before moving back to New Glasgow in Amherst Co. William inherited his father's old home place; later leaving it to his son Robert.

To son Robert, privded he cares for his mother Mary, whole of estate. 204 acres where he now lives, houses & lots in New Glasgow, 13 slaves. At the death of Robert to be divided among his children share and share alike. All livestock, crops, utensils, furniture, all the debts due me on account of my former grocery at New Glasgow.
To grandchildren, children of daughter Jane S. Watts, dec'd: Shannon T., Sterling F., Robert William & James M. Watts, 11 slaves with their increase; their share to be delieved them when they attain the age of 21 or marry. My executors to share my interest [one and half shares] in the lands of my brother Charles Higginbotham, dec'd, on Buffalo River and pay the proceeds to my four grandchilren. All other monies to be put out to interest as a joint fund for all my grandchildren, the children of my son Robert and my daughter Watts. To Robert my man Isaac, who shall not be sold out of my family. Executors: Son Robert and son-in-law James D. Watts. Wit: Hudson M. Garland, William H. Knight.
