James Moses Higginbotham

According to the Higginbotham research, this Moses was James Moses, although his father and his son appear to be just named Moses.

Fought in the Revolution with his brother Robert at Kings Mountain and Guilford Courthouse.

Moses and Robert left New Glasgow in Amherst Co in the midst of the Revolution and settled in Indian Territoy, known as the Holston Vally (southwest VA & TN). In Aug 1781 Moses filed claim for 150 acres for improvements he had made in 1778. Warrant issued 20 Dec 1781.
He acquired additional tracts of Land. Moses & Robert were active in the formation of Tazewell Co and it was formed in 1799.

Said to have married Elizabeth Garrison, 3 Feb 1785, Washington Co. Married (2) Elizabeth Faires, 28 Apr 1800.
