Will of Joseph Higginbotham. To son James S. all the lands that I have except my right to part of a Tract of Land that belonged to brother Charles Higginbotham, dec'd. Negro man, Pleasants, furniture, livestock, etc. At his death to his lawful issue, if none then grandchildren, children of daughter Frances McDaniel, viz: Joseph, James, Preston, & Mary McDaniel. To said grandchildren one half of the negroes, and right & title to land that belonged to my brother Charles. $40 to build a house on a lot adjoining the lot where the Baptist Meeting House stands. Best bed to granddaughter Mary McDaniel. 11 Nov 1826

Codicil, 6 Sep 1827. To James S. Higginbotham fee simple Title to land I now live on, 100 acres and negro boys.
