In 1880 he gave his father's birthplace as South Carolina and his mother's as Georgia.
In the 1880 census his age was given as age 38, born 1842, but this still seems to be the correct person.

Jesse M. Haden was a private in Company D of the 26th Regiment, AL Infantry. He was wounded on the 6th of April 1862 at Shiloh in Tennessee. He lost his left eye; his right eye great injured and his general health impaired. He was a farmer and had never received benefits as a maimed soldier.
