Annis Wishard

(25 Dec 1775 - 15 Jul 1848)

Also said to have been born near Philadelphia and also in Delaware. Her sister Nancy claimed to have been born in Delaware, but both Samuel & Jane, siblings just older and younger than Annis were born in Pennsylvania according to the 1850 census.

"The Wishard Family" article says she was born Sept 1776 just before the Battle of Brandywine. The Battle of Brandywine took place Sep 11, 1777; this statement may refer to Jane instead. There is definitely a problem with the birthdates of Samuel, Annis, and Jane, although all are believed to have born "on the waters of the Brandywine". The Kinnick Family Book gives the year as 1775.

1820 Census, Fleming Co KY
John Todd, 1 male under 10, 1m over age 45. 2 females under 10, 1 female 10-16, and one female over 45.
According to birth dates, Annis would be just about age 45 and John older - the Wishard researchers say John Todd was born about 1757. The two young girls under 10 would be Jane born 1815 and Elizabeth born 1818. Susannah "Susan" Alexander was born 1805, so she's the older female.
Some of the young Alexander boys are missing - James was born 1806, Samuel 1808, and Henry in Oct of 1810. Maybe the two older boys were with her brothers - several of them were living in Fleming Co.
Possibly Todd had been married before as well and had older children - also in Fleming Co, on the next page is:
John Todd Jr. 1 male under 10, 1 male age 16-26, 1 male age 26-45, 2 females 26-45.
and
Thos. Todd 2 males under 10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 3 females under 10, 1 female 26-45

1830 Census, Johnson Co IN
Annis Todd. 2f age 15-20 [Jane & Elizabeth Todd] and 1f age 50-60 [Annis]
Various Wishard databases give the date of death of James Todd as 1832, but he did not appear to be living with Annis in 1830. Perhaps that date represents evidence of his death, not the actual date.

Not found in 1840 census.

Buried Old Pioneer Clark Cemetery across the road from where the lived. This burial ground given by daughter Susan & husband Archibald Glenn Clark in 1830 from the corner of their farm where two of their little daughters were buried.
