Frank Leslie Kirkpatrick, called 'Les', was the seventh and youngest child of James Cochran and Mary (Mundon) Kirkpatrick. He was born 19 October 1868 at Rewey, Iowa County, Wisconsin, and died 12 September 1936 at Kellogg, Wabasha County, Minnesota. He was struck by an automobile at night, in a rainstorm, and killed instantly. Les married Minerva "Minnie" Blanche Burroughs at Cobb, Iowa County, Wisconsin, on 29 June 1893, at the home of William Zimmer, Rev. A. Charles of Edmund performing the ceremony. (Zimmer was married to Ella Kirkpatrick, daughter of Francis Marion Kirkpatrick. Ella was a cousin to Frank Leslie Kirkpatrick.) Minnie Burroughs lived at Montfort, Wisconsin at the time of her marriage. She was the daughter of Lorenzo David and Eliza (Swatman) Burroughs and was born at Liberty Pole, Vernon County, Wisconsin, on 3 April 1872. She died in Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, 1 November 1956. The couple had been divorced for a number of years.

Kirkpatrick operated a hotel at Rewey for a time (Kirk House) and then turned to farming near Roberts, Wisconsin. He apparently was not particularly successful at either calling. After a time he removed to Kellogg, Wabasha County, Minnesota, and it is not known what occupation he pursued at the time of his death. Minnie, his former wife, operated a hotel at Kellogg for a time and after she moved to Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, worked as a seamstress doing alterations for a women's shop.

There were five (5) children born of the marriage.
