Frederick "Fred" M. Kirkpatrick
(5 May 1847 - 7 Oct 1910)
Frederick M. Kirkpatrick, known as 'Fred', was born 5 May 1847 and died 7 October 1910 at Roberts, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. He married Lorinda ('Dolly') Wells, the daughter of Lyborn or Tyborn and Emeline (Jersey) Wells, 17 April 1870 in Grant County, Wisconsin. She was born 23 June 1854 in Wisconsin, and died 5 July 1906. Her parents were born in New Jersey.
Fred Kirkpatrick and his wife lived at Clifton for a number of years, then removed to Platteville owing to the failing health of Dolly Kirkpatrick. About October in 1905 they moved to Denver hoping for a beneficial change in climate. After about six months, the couple moved back to Platteville. They are buried in the cemetery at Arthur, Grant County, Wisconsin.
There were four (4) children born of the marriage, two of whom died at a very young age.
Obituary provided by Grant County Wisconsin Genealogical Society of unnamed newspaper. Frederick M. Kirkpatrick was born in the town of Mifflin on the 5th day of May 1847 and in 1869 he was united in marriage to Dolly L. Wells. To this union two children were born, Viola, now Mrs. W. C. Hill, and Nora now Mrs. Lloyd Rundell, of Roberts, Wisconsin. Mrs. Kirkpatrick preceded her husband to the great beyond, having passed away at Rewey, on the 5th day of July 1906. A few months ago it became apparent to the friends of Mr. Kirkpatrick that disease was fast cutting the brittle thread of life and would soon launch him into eternity. All that medical skill and kind and loving hands could do was done, but without avail, and on the 7th of October 1910, he passed peacefully away at Roberts, where he had gone a short time before to visit his daughter, Mrs. Rundell. He was a man of strong convictions and had little respect for the man with changeable ideas. He was not a member of any church, but was always ready and willing to contribute to the support of the churches where ever he found them, and in fact was a cheerful giver for the uplifting of any good cause in the neighborhood where he lived and among the people he loved so well. Mr. Kirkpatrick was the oldest child of J. C. and Mary Kirkpatrick, where were two early pioneers of south-western Wisconsin. He was a kind husband, an indulgent father and a and upright citizen, even discharging the various duties of husband, father and fried to the best of his ability. He was industrious frugal and temperate in all his habits. While we mourn his departure, we rejoice in the rich legacy he was left us the record and memory of a kind and useful and well spent life.
