Roy Smith Morehouse

Daily Inter Lake, Kalispell, Montana, Thursday, August 17, 2000, page A8: Roy S. Morehouse, 76, of Whitefish, died Aug. 15, 2000 at North Valley Hospital Extended Care. He was born on Oct. 3, 1923, in Cedar Rapid, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Genevieve Smith Morehouse. He was educated in Waterloo, Iowa. He hired on with the railroad not long after graduating from high school, first with the Milwaukee Road, then for many years with Union Pacific. He spent most of his life in Yermo, Calif. He was an avid collector--you name it, he collected it; trains and baseball cards to name a few. He enjoyed the great outdoors along with hunting and fishing, finding Montana on one of his hunting trips. He retired to Whitefish in 1975, and called it home until his death on Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Olsen, his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his son, Steve L. Morehouse of Salt Lake City; grandson Terry Olsen of Billings; Tim Olsen of Whitefish; his sister and brother-in-law, Fay and Bert Medhog of Waterloo, Iowa; along with one other sister and several great-grandchildren. Graveside committal services will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery Friday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Pat Pierce officiating. Columbia Mortuary of Columbia Falls is in charge of arrangement.
