Probably from a Northern California newspaper; Lodger Killed in Two-Story Plunge. Herschel Briggs, 40, was killed early today when he fell or jumped from the second floor fire escape of his apartment at 2329 San Pablo Ave., police reported. Briggs was found on the sidewalk below the fire escape shortly before 2 a.m.

Funeral services were held Monday in San Leandro, Calif. for Hershel Briggs, a former resident of Pittsburg and son of Mrs. P. O. Briggs of 105 East Williams, who died Friday, Dec. 28. Briggs was a graduate of Pittsburg high school and the College. He had been living in San Leandro.
